Limitless Possibilities Begins When You Choose to Go Outside the Box

Founded on the idea of having second chances, Wilderness Hikers International creates opportunities for growth, healing, and introspection.

Your Wildlife Trek Masters

Wilderness Hikers International believes that if you can dream it, you can definitely do it. With this mindset, you can conquer great heights and surpass countless limits. Now, all we can say is, enjoy the journey and relish every moment in the great outdoors!

Our Goal

Our mission is to build better leadership skills and to become better than what we are today for other generations to come.

Our Vision

We strive to create and take advantage of opportunities, be grateful for what we encountered and done, and continue to work hard for a brighter future.

Our Core

The heartbeat of what we do is the passion to better our skills, boost courage, enhance our goals, and turn our dreams into a reality.

How We Started

A journey begins with a single step. As simple as that may sound, the story of how we had become a strong and solid organization is full of ups and downs. But we are thankful for every bit of it, both the good and the bad. For in them, we learned our strengths, weaknesses, and ways to improve.

The Start of Something Wonderful

The idea to create an organization dedicated to scouting, hiking, camping, and guiding, was conceptualized in 2017. We started as a hiking group, but with little success. Nevertheless, it didn’t stop us from making our dream a reality.

More Than Just a Name

In 2019, Wilderness Hikers USA was formed. But found the need for inclusivity and representation even by the mere name of our group. So, in 2021, we decided to name ourselves Wilderness Hikers International. This way, we are not bound by borders, ethical backgrounds, or cultural differences.

Putting the Work Into It

We got the ideas behind our programs came from other scouting and hiking programs our founder/scout chief Lorje Salamonski had been a part of. We focus on learning core survivalist skill values, including camping and other outdoor activities. Our group meetings differ daily. But we try to stay focused on the outdoors.

Why We Do What We Do

Founded on the idea of having second chances, Wilderness Hikers International creates opportunities for growth, healing, and introspection. We realize that there is a great need for second chances. So, by combining our love for the outdoors with our purpose, we create a hiking and scouting society driven to create change in someone’s life through a series of outdoor activities.

Meet Our Founder and Scout Chief, Lorje Salamonski

Hailing from Biddeford, Maine, Lorje Salamonski is a man with a great love for hiking, scouting, Bush Crafting, camping, and guiding. He is a firm believer that anything is possible if you put your mind and hands into it. More so, he believes that anyone can surpass obstacles, hurdles, and challenges, even in a hiking or scouting environment.

After seeing the need for international wilderness hikers, Lorje carefully considered creating a compassionate program that allows second chances while doing outdoor activities. From this Wilderness Hikers International was born.
